About Campbell Fittings
Louis Campbell Sr. founded Campbell Fittings,
originally called The Campbell Nipple Works, in the early
1900's. It was a small pipe nipple manufacturer serving industrial
markets primarily in the Mid-Atlantic States. The Philadelphia
Naval Shipyard was a major customer and was virtually the only
customer during both World Wars I and II.
Louis Campbell sold the business to Frederick Paff
after World War II and the company has remained in the family ever
since. Mr. Paff, educated as an engineer, and his son Thomas,
with extensive marketing experience in the advertising field, team
together in 1960 and expanded the business from a regional manufacturer
of a single product line to a national supplier of a variety of
products for the Water Well Industry.
Success was achieved through a critical balance of
superior engineering, innovative design and customer service ...
a recipe unchanged for three generations.
Through the late 1960's and into the 1970's, Campbell
Fittings also developed an extensive line of combination nipples
for industrial hose applications. This product group was sold exclusively
through other manufacturers in order for them to bolster their own
line of hose fittings.
The early 1980's saw great upheaval in the industrial
markets. Cheap, imported couplings drove prices down at the same
time a recession reduced demand. It was at this time that Campbell
Fittings made a significant shift from making hose fittings for
other manufacturers to developing their own line of products.
Hose manufacturers were developing new hoses capable
of handling higher pressures, wider temperature ranges and an expanding
breadth of media. Campbell Fittings seized this opportunity to provide
innovative fittings solutions for the new hose applications and
to market these products through industrial hose distributors.
In the mid-1990's, Thomas J. Paff, Campbell
Fittings' current president, spent three years on the Board of Directors
of the National Association of Hose and Accessories Distributors
(NAHAD). Continuing the Campbell tradition of focusing on safety
and engineering, Mr. Paff organized and co-chaired a new committee
to establish hose assembly standards.
In April of 2000, the Assembly Standards Committee
published the first comprehensive standards for the safe use and
testing of hose assemblies. Campbell Fittings' Chief Engineer, Dave
Street, was a major force in helping write and establish this
first set of standards.
Campbell Fittings' superior engineering, innovative
design and customer service remain the strengths of the business
today. We design and manufacture innovative products which offer
safety and cost benefits to both the distributor and end-user.
Campbell Fittings is recognized throughout the industry
as a manufacturer of the finest hose fittings, couplings, and clamps
of their kind in the world, and currently our engineers are working
closely with engineers of major hose manufacturers to develop and
test even better, safer products for the future.
Whether for air, steam, chemical, petro-chemical,
or just water, Campbell Fittings has a system for the application.
We distribute from four strategically located warehouses in California,
Texas, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.
